Red Tortoise beetle; Aspidimorpha areata
The Red Tortoise beetle is small (about 7 millimetres in length) and broad with an oval outline. They are red with 8 black spots. They occur on foliage in savannahs. Its elytra have black line and longitudinal rows of punctures. Its expansions of pronotum has an orange tinge and network of veins.
Wasp Longhorn beetle; Merioneda Africana
The Wasp longhorn beetle is small (about 9 millimetres in length), with a black head pronotum and antennae. Its elytra is shortened pointed with yellow and black tips. Their fore and mid legs is swollen and yellow. The last part of its femora is swollen. They occur in subtropical savannahs.
African Thief Ant; Carebara vidua
The African thief ant is large (workers about 2 millimetres, queen about 25 millimetres and males about 18 millimetres in length). The workers is yellow and queens is brown or black with a bulbous thorax and huge inflated abdomen. The males look similar to the queens but have yellow abdomens, legs and antennae, with hair covering their bodies. They live in colonies and nests in walls of termite mounds. The workers sometimes raid termite colonies in order to prey on eggs and brood.
